Good locations to start a new theatre company?

Hello evreyone, was looking for advice on a good place within the UK to start a new theatre company - in terms of competition, how well gun safes theatre is received in the community, people to collaborate with and generally what the theatre/performing arts scene is like etc. We currently reside in Cornwall and bunk beds this seems to be a good place as their is little theatre around (so less competititon) and the arts are well kids bunk beds received. We also had Bristol in mind as there is alot going on, alot of interesting and skilled people to collaborate with and a change of scene could do us bunk beds well. Any advice on this would be great. Thanks, Jimmy
Well many people from my drama degree set up companies 4ft beds after leaving. The degree was based in Hull and I know that there were ones set up in Hull, Leeds and Sheffield. All of which have gone on to have successful shows (rash dash, beer pong tables awkward cough and middle child are their names if you are interested) there is log splitter some competition but the arts have a good base in those cities.

Musical theatre question/collage question!?

So I am an actress and singer but I have a question about the future. So My parents don't want me to be a stage actress, and I mean yeah I know it's extrememly difficult to make it. So I want to be an archaeologist, but I want to get a feel for the stage on a bigger scale. I retractable awnings am currently taking voice lessons, and have been for a year now, and I am just starting to audition for community theatre(my highschool theatre is out of the question do to schedualing) I've only been in one musical when I was little, but have been performing in plays and singing in shows my entire life. So I was wondering, Botox treatments Lincoln what collages could I go to that have normal majors and courses(so that i can still work on being an archaeologist) but have a good performing arts program so that I can take some classes and perform in collage(for fun mostly). I was thinking about NYU? Because I know that it has an archaeology program and Vapor4Life a performing arts program, but I was wondering how that would work for me? If I went to NYU could I still take courses to major in Archaeology, but also take some musical theatre courses, and do soem musicals? And lets say I fell absolutely in love with the stage(i already do love it, im being hypothetical) and i wanted to audition for V2 Cigs some off broadway and broadway shows(assume i have an agent) while im attending NYU, would it be possible? and I'd still be working to be an archaeologist and taking the theatre courses, so that way, lets say, I got a big role on a broadway show then I could just be an solar battery charger actress, but if I couldn't, I could just stick to being an archaeologist. So my overall question is, Could I attend NYU planning to major in archaeology and just taking some musical theatre courses for fun, could i also audition for broadway and off broadway shows, and do all of this at the same time? Would it be possible? ( and believe me I know how hard fireplace screens making it on broadway is and yatta yatta yatta, like i said, I'm just curious, I don't think id actually plan to do this) Thankyou!
It sounds to me that you've thought this over quite a lot, I myself am doing an Archaeology degree and am in the Creative Writing internet marketing strategies Society at York UK; I LOVE Archaeology but I LOVE writing too

Questions about regional theater and Theater liberal arts programs?

In my home state of NJ, there's an 11-week summer regional theater program located right by a college. It is independent from the college, but is situated by a liberal arts campus and offers residency there for students in the program. When applying for undergraduate studies at tattoo a liberal arts school, how useful is regional theater experience if you're looking to get into a Theater program? Here's more info on the summer program: http://shakespearenj.org/Education/apprentice_faqs.html It's a bit steep price-wise, but it looks like something ideal - I've been looking into the college, and having resided there for the ipad app development program would give me experience with the campus - and possibly get me into contact with relevant people for references (which I'm presently lacking in). PS - And by "valid experience", I mean something they would actually look at for community work, prior interest android app development in field of study, etc.
Personally I would not enroll in the summer program unless you got legit college credit for it. There is a little theater in my area that "milks" students with fees and then makes more money off them in ticket sales. The guy running the place apparently has TENS Machine little formal education in theater , but he uses his excuse for a theater workshop to get people to pay him for training. He then promotes the shows so he can get more money off ticket sales. The shows Reklamas piekabes have the reputation of generally being lousy, but tickets sell because the students want their friends and family to see them in a play. While I believe your 11 week workshop is far more legit, you would be doing a lot of work and paying a steep price for very little benefit. You could take the workshop just for the fun of it if you've got lots of extra cash available, but there are probably far better options available at the nearby campus. I doubt that it would improve the value of your experience much in comparison to the steep price.

So long witch fancy dress as your portfolio is strong enough, you absolutely can transfer into SVA or any other art school rc trucks out of a community college. My main concern is normally twofold: - Are your art classes at the cc strong enough to give you a DIY auto repair manuals good enough portfolio, and - Will you be taking the right/enough art classes, so cat behavior you're not too far behind by the time you transfer? To figure that out, go to the transfer pages for SVA and other good art schools that you like cue tips now, and find out what they require of transfer krill oil students. Then make sure you get those experiences while you're at cc.

What is the deal with all these Adjudicated art/music/theater competitions?

Maybe I'm just too old to understand all these new fangled ways--but I don't get it. Why would I want my painting, band or play Judged by some panel of experts. I thought this plague was confined to high schools, now I find it in community theaters too. I'm a full-time professional quality manager, so I understand the concept of being audited, but in my opinion, the market place and the students are the best judges of the success of an arts program, not a bunch of snooty academics picking and finding fault with little nuances the public will never see and couldn't care less about. Am I wrong? What's the point of this silliness? Should real gluten world results count more than silly, artificial "grades"? What do you think?
I am an adjudicator, so I expect you to hit me with your best shot. No, art cannot be *reduced to a number* - but there are practical applications for adjudication - and many places where, as you say, it is irrelevant. If we wish to offer students the opportunity to perform in Honors ensembles, such as All-State, then some form of adjudication and competition is needed. Leading up to that level, there are preliminaries for younger students, all of which we endeavor to make a positive growth experience. I have sent thousand of kids over my teaching career, and as an adjudicator, Greenock estate agents I have heard thousands. I often have 10 minutes to hit seven major categories, check off points, give pluses and minuses for certain areas, write a narrative about their performance, and still hear their scales and sight-reading! More advanced kids get 15 minutes - and the works are often long, so we need to make cuts. Each year, we expect to see the student progress through the six levels of literature offered in each instruments or vocal area. Here in NY state, we hear about 300,000 kids a YEAR, so need to be efficient, if we are going to continue to offer this service. Not all students wish Cell Phone Repair to participate - fine. SOME teachers require this as a type of independent final exam - that is up to the local school district and the policy of the group that the students has freely chosen to join. If you move up to college auditions, then certainly adjudication is necessary - there is quite a difference in the ability level of a student who is accepted to Oberlin than one who is accepted into a Department of Music in a local state college. The students who attend the latter would like to think that yes, they COULD have gotten into Juilliard - if only (fill in the blank with the lame excuse of your choice) - but we know Dixons voucher codes that to be a fantasy. There are a lot of fantasies HERE on YA; if you stick around long enough, you read questions in mis-spelled English from kids who want to know of they can study hip-hop at Jooleeyard (the only college they have ever heard of . .), since they already have taught themselves the ukulele - and they don't need to read no freakin' notes, and don't wanna take lessons from no stupid teacher! At some point, some judicious mid-course adjudication would have prevented an eventual broken heart - and possibly convinced this student of the merits of legitimate study. When I try pool tables for sale to tell them that - I often am met with incredible denial and resistance - but I got to be Top Answerer here for a reason, and this is sincerity (some call it v bluntness - hey, I don't have all day, you know . . ) and quality of my advice. Not everyone WANTS advice- some people just want you to AGREE with them, right or wrong . . . Yes, the public can discern quality - even if they do not have the background to analyze why. I watch the Olympics - I could never in a million years do ANY of that - but I can recognize quality. I watch ML baseball, college basketball - again, skills I do not instant weight loss possess, now or ever - yet I can tell quality from lack. Yes, the public votes with ticket sales - same as in professional music. But to GET to that level, students and amateurs need some kind of motivation, and a dispassionate way to be assigned to the spot that makes the most sense for them, and for the greater good. I am reading between the lines here - but from your question, I *infer* that either yourself or a loved one was denied a plum spot in an amateur production, and are therefore miffed. If so, perhaps the "real word results" satellite tv need people who possess different skills than you presented? Diplomatic enough?

Ideas for community college theatre?

Hey everyone! I was hoping some to get some ideas from other members of the performing arts community. The community College I'm attending area rugs cheap is just now getting it's theatre program up and running. We are looking for a production to do. However, we have limitations toy kitchen and are a little stumped. We need something that's 2 or 3 acts (1 1/2-2 hrs). We decided no musicals. We're working with an auditorium and a low budget for set and costumes. Last year we did a successful production of steel magnolias and another one act play. This time around we'll need 9-13 parts and roles for male and female. ANY ideas would be so greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance!!
The Laramie Project can be shifted to hold that many people, it's a good, albeit controversial play, with little to no props and set necessary. It's a good start if you want to cause a stir, too. Definitely suggest it.
