I graduated from a Culinary Arts program at my local community college, but no one wants to hire me right now so I decided to go back to school and get my office administration AS degree. Is there such thing as office jobs in a restaurant?

I am 19 going on 20, go to community college and have a great support system in my parents. I am currently unemployed. I used to have aspirations of achieving a doctorate degree in anesthesiology. I am now content in a liberal arts program at a community college. I also play in a band and put 100% effort into that all the time. I just wish I could put as much effort into work and school. I want to be happy but I also want to make my parents happy. What should I do?!

Do what you want. It’s your life, not your parents. The purpose of your life at this point is to be responsible for yourself, your life and your happiness; your parents are responsible for their own happiness … not you or yours.

I was going to go to the Academy of Art University, but after reading some things about art schools in general being a scam, that each class there would cost 1000 bucks, and some less than glamorous reviews from students who went there, I changed my mind. My friend, who is going to a community college, says that she is getting just as good an art education as she would have in some expensive art school. So I’m trying to find out what community colleges in Sac have good art programs. Please bear in mind that I /only/ care about the art program. I know I have to take core classes but I’m excellent in math/social studies/science/english/ect, so I’m not worried. I’m wanting an art program that isn’t OK LET’S PAINT K BYE. Life Drawing classes are a must! But I would adooore more than that!

I have a basic Associates of Arts degree and recently enrolled in a community college in their Associates of Arts in Teaching degree program. One of the directors keeps telling me that you cannot have two AA degrees, but I’ve heard otherwise from different sources. It doesn’t matter a whole lot because I’m going to be dual-enrolled in a 4-year, but I don’t see why I couldn’t pick up my AA in teaching at the same time.

You can earn as many associates as you want.

Which community college program should I take? I didn’t do well in high school so my guidance counselor told me I would have to take at least 1 year of community college then Transfer to university.

- General arts and science ( looks to be the easiest )

http://extraweb.algonquincollege.com/fulltime_programs/programOfStudy.aspx?id=1438P01FWO&

- Police Foundations ( looks more interesting to me )

http://extraweb.algonquincollege.com/fulltime_programs/programOfStudy.aspx?id=0444X01FWO&

I wish to take European studies in university if that matters.

Thanks,

Neither fits that well for European studies. You really need a general arts course with more communication, some history, geography and languages. There will be lots of writing involved. Both the courses you’ve listed are to do with criminal justice.

If you find the police foundations more interesting, why not just do it? Have you thought about doing criminology or law at uni? Why not aim to join the police? If you find a course more interesting, you’ll do better. Maybe you’re a more hands on than book person.

AA would be accepted. u will get exemptions. u would enter 2 or 3 yer depending on scores, references, work output etc. so work hard and few years later come back for your bachelor
