Can you transfer from a community college to a 4 year art school after a year?

Can you get some of your core classes out of the way and still transfer to an art school?
The schools I am referring to in particular are Bunker Hill Community College (Boston) and New England Institute of Art.

Of course you can, just make sure that the classes you take at the community college are recognized by the 4 year college. Some classes will not transfer and you will need to retake them in order to fulfill the requirements, you should be able to speak to an advisor at the community college (I also suggest speaking to an advisor at the 4 year school as well) about what classes will/will not transfer. Good luck!
