Call the school and ask, its the only way to know for sure. At many community colleges programs like culinary arts, nursing, fire science usually have waiting lists. These programs are usually very popular because they are such great opportunities (2-3 years of schooling and you can enter a great job). The advising office will usually work with you to get you on the waiting list and tell you what you can do in the time before you can enter the program.
References :
Usually, after you apply they send you a letter letting you know if you are accepted or not. In the letter, you can be accepted, denied, or wait-listed. That's when you'll know. Otherwise, you can call the admissions office and ask them if they use a wait-list system. Good luck!
