Hey so yeah I’m now a Junior at a college prep school. (just finished sophomore year today!) And I’ve pretty much dreamed of attending NYU tisch since 7th grade. I just want to know what score I should aim for on the SAT, and anything else I might need to prepare for.
As far as my resume goes, I’ve been in chorus for my entire highschool being, been in several school plays with fairly good roles, and alot of community theatre. Im in the dance company at my school. This summer I’m doing an internship at the academy of performing arts working with the middle schoolers in the summer play there, and not to mention im really passionate.
I get pretty good grades, my most recent GPA was about a 3.6/3.7
Should i be getting better grades?
I just want to know how I can achieve this goal so any advice would be AWESOM!
yes, you should be getting better grades; this is one of the most competitive schools in the country, and 3.6′s and even 4.0′s are a dime a dozen- you need something more- an edge over all the other overachievers that apply every semester. if you havent done much work outside of school as far as acting, you may not make the cut; they look for a fairly accomplished actor when accepting students, and all applicants will be very passionate. and your most recent gpa is not what they look at- they look at youre gpa as a whole, and each individual semester from freshmen through senior year. you could have had a 2.5 one semester, and that would pretty much knock you out of the running, even if you got a 4.0 some other semester. your sats must be well above average as well. not only are you applying to a top school, youre applying to one of their most prestigious programs, so you must not only be one of the best students in your class (usually in the top 5 or 10%), but you also must have the skills and experience that the theater program requires. in short, you really havent given us much to go on grade-wise at all, so i couldnt even give you a good guess, but even if you did, only the admissions board knows what exactly they look for. theres no definitive way to get into any college- you just do the best you can, and you do that throughout high school- not just junior and senior year, as they look at everything.
