In 2009, Toronto Crime Stoppers set an all time record number of tips into the program with 10,300 anonymous tips received. The success is due to the anonymity protection guaranteed by case law of the Supreme Court of Canada, a solid and sustainable community based program, and the use of social media and youth engagment projects with graffiti art and bmx bikes to educate the public on how to use Crime Stoppers to anonymously report information to help the police PREVENT or solve crimes.

http://IBTR.org sponsor the Toronto Crime Stoppers program through the donation of a Toyota FJ decaled Toronto Crime Stoppers vehicle that is used for the School Crime Stoppers program, Seniors Crime Stoppers program and community events.

Crime Stoppers worldwide are registered charities that have as their mission to provide an anonymous service to the public to report information to help the police PREVENT or solve crime. There are close to 1300 programs worldwide under the umbrella of Crime Stoppers International http://CSIWorld.org

In Toronto there are three ways to submit an anonymous tip

Text: TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637)

See how anonymous text message tips works worldwide here: http://SMSCrimeTips.com
